Patrick L. Bales

Attorney Patrick L. Bales is well-known in the Virginia legal community for his passion and dedication in vigorously pursuing his clients’ defense. As a criminal defense attorney, he will work tirelessly to secure the best outcome for his clients.

Mr. Bales received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1993. He earned his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2000. While at Gonzaga, he won the right to represent the school in the National Criminal Procedure Competition in San Diego, CA.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Bales served as a Public Defender through 2008. During this time, he helped newly hired attorneys practice their courtroom skills as a five-time coach for the Indigent Defense Commission.

Mr. Bales also helped to write Virginia DUI Law: Understanding the Scientific, Medical, Technological, and Legal Aspects of a DUI Case. This guide, written with Attorney Michael C. Tillotson, provides insight for prosecutors, defense lawyers, and judges into the legal, technical, and scientific issues that accompany a drunk-driving case.
